One of the proposed changes to the federal EV tax credit that has flown a bit under the radar is also one of the most political and protectionist in nature. Effective January 1, 2022, electric vehicles with final assembly* (see definition at the end) in China would no longer qualify for IRC 30D (federal EV tax credit).

The $4,000 discount applies to both 2024 Chevy Blazer EV leases and purchases and according to CarsDirect, it can be stacked with other deals, such as the $7,500 tax credit and the $1,000 Costco member-only incentive. Plus, it’s free to use and you won’t get sales calls until you select an installer and you share your phone number with them.

Linde currently is operating hydrogen stations also for fuel cell forklifts, notably for the BMW South Carolina plant, where they are dispensing hydrogen—around the clock—at the rate of 700kg/day. The UK and Scandinavian countries are starting deployment this year, assisted by substantial tax benefits in Scandinavia.
