In the US, Honda has cut the lease price for the Fit EV in the US to $259 a month beginning 1 June, down from $389 a month. Further, the network of qualified Fit EV Honda dealers in California, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island and Connecticut will expand from 36 to more than 200 by the end of June.

Full disclosure: Hyundai flew me to Baltimore, Maryland, and fed and housed me for two nights so that I could drive the new Kona. The driving experience is generally nice enough with a dash of sport thrown in – the Kona is more engaging to drive than the Toyota Corolla Cross and on par with, if not a tad better than, the Honda HR-V.

Because of Hondas different architecture (the engine runs whenever the motor runs), aftermarket conversion of Hondas are unlikely. Pricing from $8-15,000 for installed low-speed EV range of 8-24 miles. The easiest conversions are for 2004-2008 Prius (not 2001-2003 Prius) and the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Hybrid.
