We can’t expect the market to move en masse towards electric until the public recharging network matches the landscape for petrol-powered vehicles. Level 2 Charging Level 2 charging stations require a dedicated 240-volt circuit, which is commonly found in residential homes, commercial buildings, and public locations. Everyone wins.

Grants of between £2,000 and £5,000 will be available toordinary motorists to encourage them to buy electric or otherultra-low-carbon cars. The grants will not be available until 2011 and the detail of how they will beallocated and which cars will qualify has still to be worked out. Car buyers were less enthusiastic.

The PROLOGUE puts the internal combustion engine up front and runs on diesel, while the RC uses petrol with the electric motor going at the back. Similar to the Chevy Volt concept, the RC can run solely on electric power for extended periods with a hybrid powertrain providing extra range when needed.

Vancouvers trolley bus fleet operates at 600 volts and god knows how many amps. Around town you will virtually never need a charge and if one lane on the highway had a 440 volt commutator groove cut in it where cars could drop their charge shoe into while traveling at 60MPH uninterrupted ala slot car. that my day to day car cant solve.
