After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. All the commercially available freeway-capable (70 mph) EVs are priced way out of reach for the average consumer.

Call me old fashioned, but at this price give me a classy, single colour tan leather cabin – BMW and Lexus do this so well – or black leather with sporty red stitching a la Porsche. The Air’s standard kit’s hardly wanting. The pop-out door handles are too plastic-feeling for a car at this price.
