The US Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a $150,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I grant of $150,000 to Axion Power to fund a commercialization plan for the use of its PbC batteries ( earlier post ) in a low-cost, high-efficiency dual battery architecture for micro-hybrid vehicles.

A $320,000 ONR grant to understand the challenges faced when implementing a 1000 volts-direct-current lithium-ion battery.

Axion Power International, Inc has received a pair of grants totalling approximately $380,000 from the Advanced Lead-Acid Battery Consortium, (ALABC). These grants follow the announcement of a grant from the State of Pennsylvania to advance demonstrations of the PbC systems in HEVs, PHEVs (plug-in electric vehicles) and EVs.
