Although Tesla gets the headlines (and stock price boost), Nissan and Chevrolet make the sales. The Google example of an expensive networked, free Level 2 charger in every employee’s slot is unrealistic, unaffordable and unnecessary in the real world. Neither scenario encourages co-workers to buy PEVs.

PT Nissan plans to start selling electric car in Seattle next year By AUBREY COHEN SEATTLEPI.COM STAFF Seattle will be one of the first cities where Nissan sells a new electric car, and the city will help make the vehicles viable here, officials from the city and auto maker said Tuesday. Nissan, through its joint venture with NEC, has created a battery pack that meets the requirements of the electric vehicle and will produce it in mass volume. Nissan is working on an electric car that it says is on track to have a 100-mile range and 26-minute charge time. The Renault-Nissan Alliance launched a pilot project in Arizona earlier this month to test out a charging network ahead of the planned 2010 launch of its electric vehicle.
