Honda has begun deliveries of the 2013 Fit EV ( earlier post ), with the first going to the city of Torrance today as one of the first major steps in the Honda Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program. Honda and the city will continue to further these initiatives while also studying local government fleet usage of an electrified vehicle.

Honda Motor Co., On 15 December, Honda announced a similar Electric Vehicle Testing Program in the US, featuring the first public test drive of a Fit EV prototype and an Accord Sedan test vehicle outfitted with a new two-motor plug-in hybrid system. Honda Motor Company will introduce a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and a new plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) to the US market in 2012, said President & CEO Takanobu Ito in his mid-year address in Tokyo, Japan. Ito said that Honda will develop and adopt multiple hybrid systems that are appropriate for vehicles of different sizes and uses.

In the wake of the Chevy Volt presentation by GM, my "plug-in hybrid" google alert has filled my inbox with reports from other automakers about their PHEV projects. Even Honda got in on the act. The Vegatron is a Honda Dio look alike. My hypothesis is that the likes of Kinetic Honda and later on Activa killed the Bajaj simply because they had flat floorboards. I googled and 1500 F capacitors are available. There are 5 vehicles that were in the showroom. It has a 3 kW motor - and is zippy. 1 Ah is 3600 Coulomb.

Honda unveiled the all-new 2013 Fit EV at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and announced plans to begin leasing the battery electric commuter vehicle in the US in the summer of 2012. American Honda will begin leasing the Fit EV to customers in select California and Oregon markets next summer, and will expand to six East Coast markets in early 2013.
