If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. Hybrids are a proven winner, but a series-hybrid (range extended EV), such as the Volt takes things to a much higher level with existing and "mostly" affordable tech. You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golf cart.
