The 1987 Sprint ER came in second place, due to its insatiable thirst for go-go juice on the highway (51 miles per gallon). It was the Chevrolet Sprint ER , and I've found a nicely intact example in a car graveyard just east of Sacramento.

GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. Thats short-sighted. It also offers eight hybrid models.
