With an announced on sale date of spring 2023, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is slowly getting attention from full-size pickup owners. Clean Fleet Report wanted to give an update as we are one year out from seeing the Silverado EV in Chevrolet dealerships. This review highlights the status of the Silverado EV as of May 2022.

The production version of this fully electric, full-size pickup truck will be revealed within months, with sales to start during 2024, most likely in the second half of the year. It’s built on the “STLA Frame” architecture, the largest of four different electric-vehicle platforms and the only one featuring body-on-frame construction.

A brief moment in EV history passed us by about a decade ago, when the little-known VIA Motors introduced their lineup of VTRUX hybrid-electric vehicles. Lutz was a staunch supporter of GM’s plug-in hybrid of the time, the Cruze-based Volt. VTRUX trucks (Silverados) were claimed to manage 25 miles per gallon combined.

The electric-assisted steering had good road feel with responsiveness and little body roll in most cornering situations.
