The US Department of Energy (DOE) has published a Beyond Tailpipe Emissions Calculator that provides estimates of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with driving an electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), including emissions from the production of electricity used to power the vehicle.

I should feel heartened that battery electrics predominated, if you include NEVs and bikes. Phoenix Motors AltairNano powered SUV was the other full BEV. Phoenix Motors AltairNano powered SUV was the other full BEV. The production of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles and electric bicycles is picking up.

T his week's meeting of the Electric Drive Transportation Association in Washington was accompanied by some significant announcements. Plug-in vehicles would combine today’s new electric-flex fuel (gas and/or biofuels such as ethanol) hybrid technology with a larger battery that could be recharged by plugging it into a standard wall sockets.
