After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. There are already commercially available kits with excellent, detailed instructions for how to convert a vehicle.

If the EV1 was viable (or even close) we would see Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc all with 80 mile cars right now.do If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golf cart. Sorry the market killed the EV1.
