Tesla Motors plans to offer a $1,000 adapter to enable Model S EVs to use CHAdeMO fast charging stations for those Model S units with Supercharging already enabled. Tesla calculates that the 50 kW CHAdeMO fast chargers will charge the Model S at the rate of approximately 150 miles of range per hour of charge. Click to enlarge.

The latest data show a very different picture from the prior year’s report, when electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors transferred out 1,311.520 ZEV credits, by far, the largest of any automaker in the state. Chrysler was third (almost the same transferred in as Fiat transferred out: 237.804 in, with Fiat transferring out 235.2).

The electrification of the automobile has taken another step forward after the US Department of Energy closed a $465million loan with Tesla Motors to construct a manufacturing facility in southern California.

The US Department of Energy has closed its $465 million loan with Tesla Motors, Inc. The Palo Alto facility will assemble electric vehicle battery packs, electric motors, and related electric vehicle control equipment, both for Tesla’s own electric vehicles and for sale to other automobile manufacturers.
