Limited ranged, lead-acid battery based cars, they have nonetheless proven the demand of even less than perfect electric vehicles. Mitsubishi could be the first with cars for sale if the UK distributor has its way. From where I sit (in the driver's seat of a NiMH powered Toyota RAV4 EV) this seems eminently practical.

See below: "EVJerry" Asher brought the "Spirit of DC" Plug-In Toyota Prius to visit the Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association (LVEVA) on Monday, November 24th. It was transferred to the body of the Toyota Prius, next to the logos of some of the 38 other EAA chapter locations that Jerry had visited during his amazing journey.

Last year Oregon had also aggressively negotiated with the Chinese carmaker, BYD , to manufacture its line of plug-in hybrids in the state for sale in the U.S.) Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not.
