By comparison, the Nissan LEAF carries a 99 MPGe (combined) EPA rating, while the smaller i-MiEV carries a 112 MPGe (combined) rating. (1 Ford will also be introducing the C-MAX Hybrid and the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid—also to be built at Michigan Assembly— for sale in the second half of next year.

Mitsubishi could be the first with cars for sale if the UK distributor has its way. The first cars will utilize NiMH batteries, as do the Toyota test platform Plug-in Priuses at the University of California. The i-MiEV is based on Mitsubishis i line of micro-cars which are quite popular in Japan. The four door i-Miev is only 11ft 1inches, 4ft 10inches wide, and 5ft 3inches tall but feels much roomier inside. Inside the car looks like a standard i-car but the gauges have very different meanings.
