Opel and Europcar have agreed to introduce the Opel Ampera extended range electric vehicle ( earlier post ) as a rental car throughout Europe. Göteborg Energi, the electricity provider for the City of Gothenburg, awarded a contract to Opbrid SL (Granada, Spain) to provide two Opbrid B?sbaar sbaar ultra-fast bus charging stations ( earlier post ) for the HyperBus (Hybrid and Plug-in Extended Range) demonstration project in Gothenburg City.

Opel has begun testing two development cars (mules) of the Ampera extended-range electric vehicle (E-REV) ( earlier post ) at its Dudenhofen proving ground, keeping the four-seater on schedule for a late 2011 production date. A 16 kWh Li-ion battery pack provides all-electric range of up to 60 km/37 miles (MVEG).

The Ampera is an extended range electric vehicle based on the Voltec technology used in the Chevrolet Volt. Equipped with a 16 kWh Li-ion battery pack, the five-door, four-seat hatchback has a battery-powered range of up to 60 km (37 miles) (MVEG cycle). The Ampera goes on sale in Europe in 2011, the Spark in early 2010.
