Honda announced that the upcoming Clarity Fuel Cell ( earlier post ) will be joined by two additional electrified variants, the Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, launching in the US in 2017. On a global basis, Honda is aiming to have electrified vehicles account for two-thirds of its vehicles sales around 2030.

In our case it was as, traveling through four states, California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah, having the extended battery made the trip worry-free. Extended-range electric vehicles — such as the Chevy Volt, which GM says will recharge in three hours — offer another route, adding a small gas engine to keep drivers from feeling stranded without access to fuel. With a 55KWH battery, range is only 157 miles. My Honda Civic averages 34+ MPG over a year period.
