Opel Begins Ampera EREV Mule Testing

Opel has begun testing two development cars (mules) of the Ampera extended-range electric vehicle (E-REV) ( earlier post ) at its Dudenhofen proving ground, keeping the four-seater on schedule for a late 2011 production date. A 16 kWh Li-ion battery pack provides all-electric range of up to 60 km/37 miles (MVEG).

GM Europe Premieres Opel Ampera,Chevrolet Spark at Geneva Show

The Ampera is an extended range electric vehicle based on the Voltec technology used in the Chevrolet Volt. Equipped with a 16 kWh Li-ion battery pack, the five-door, four-seat hatchback has a battery-powered range of up to 60 km (37 miles) (MVEG cycle). The company also held the European premiere of the Cadillac SRX.

Ford to triple production capacity of electrified vehicles in North America by 2013; led by C-MAX Hybrid, C-MAX Energi

Ford’s plan to invest in even more capacity for its five-passenger C-MAX electrified models for North America replaces an earlier plan of introducing the gasoline-engine-powered seven-passenger C-MAX multi-activity vehicle. This allows it to run in electric mode before using the gasoline engine.
