The twin faux exhaust ports on the lower rear fascia actually don’t look too bad, and the star-patterned 19-inch machined alloy wheels look great. Big props to Volkswagen for not slapping black brush guards on the fender arches. The lack of needless chrome and cladding is what makes the Taos design a winner.

The XC60 Recharge comes standard with eAWD and an Off-Road drive mode setting, but don’t confuse it with the likes of a Land Rover, Range Rover, Bronco or Jeep. The rear fascia and bumper are body color, and the exhaust tips are tucked underneath. If towing, the maximum weight is 3,500 pounds. Very clean.

While this occasionally resulted in visual abominations (obviously pictured), it’s the kind of detailed personalization that’s normally reserved for Jeep Wranglers or Suzuki Hayabusas. I felt partial to the F3, if only because our tester seemed a bit more lively and happened to be equipped with the factory available Akrapovic exhaust.

In the rear the hands-free power lift-gate sits above the sliver lower fascia where there is a single, horizontal exhaust port. Maintenance – Three years/36,000 mile. Road Test: 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Road Test: 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Hyundai probably will go to this clean design in the coming years.
