The NEVI Formula program requires EV charging stations to be available every 50 miles and within one travel mile of the Alternative Fuel Corridor. Tennessee has $88 million in federal grant money for TDOT and TDEC to dole out over five years to expand its EV charging network.

Proterra has demonstrated that this option can travel more 700 miles in 24 hours. The XR Extended Range product, using NMC Li-ion cells, allows longer distances between charge events. Moreover, the contract seeks to match and qualify contract users with federal grant and/or stimulus funds.
