However, achieving either goal would likely require governments offering hundreds of billions of dollars, if not trillions, in EV subsidies to ICE owners over the next decade, not to mention significant investments in EV charging infrastructure and the electrical grid. It will appear in Europe next year as the Opel Ampera and in Australia as the Holden Volt in 2012. Its been improving over time, but the power density and cost issues are still steep for what exists thus far. Denmark did that with Wind Power and now most of their energy comes from wind rather than oil, natural gas, or coal.
