The Nikkei reports that Toyota Motor Kyushu Inc. will nearly triple the production of the Lexus HS 250h hybrid ( earlier post ) by October. Sales of the HS 250h began in Japan in July. Remaining orders for the Lexus hybrid have reached 8,600 units—17 times the monthly domestic sales target of 500.

As part of what has become a global recall of the third-generation Prius, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA Inc, will conduct a voluntary safety recall on approximately 133,000 2010 Model Year Prius vehicles and 14,500 Lexus Division 2010 HS 250h vehicles to update software in the vehicle’s anti-lock brake system (ABS).

Total combined Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicle sales in the US have topped the one million mark, according to Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA. Toyota has unveiled the Sai compact luxury hybrid sedan in Japan ( earlier post ); the vehicle, based on the platform used for the Lexus HS 250h ( earlier post ), is planned to go on sale in Japan on 7 December. The monthly sales target for Japan is 3,000 units. The new platform was developed for medium/compact vehicles.
