Not only will that reduce emissions from the automotive production process, it will also help to limit destructive mining for raw materials.

A blockchain-based system maps the production flow of the materials as well as the associated CO 2 emissions. In the long term, Mercedes-Benz is pursuing the goal of a circular economy and is working to close material cycles. The focus of the commitment is initially on materials whose production is particularly CO 2 intensive.

There was a workshop last week for the EU battery passport that we were involved in. Reliability is one area. Lifecycle assessment is the other area.

Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. CalCars supports conversion programs as a strategy to increase awareness and support for PHEVs and thereby motivate automakers to build production PHEVs. Conversions are limited to certain vehicle types. So far, most start as hybrids.
