The anaerobic digester is fed the waste from the distillation process and the wastes from 2,000 dairy cattle and 10,000 beef cattle being raised on the site. Madson identified several ethanol plants that were built in industrial settings that were able to use the waste heat, i.e. from an adjacent refinery, to produce their ethanol.

Not to be outdone, on Tuesday the Norwegian electric car startup, Think, was in Portland being wooed by the state as one of 8 potential places to site their first car manufacturing facility in the United States. One thing is for sure; - electric cars bring down the air pollution, but they sure create another waste pollution problem.
