I never thought I’d see the New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl and I never thought Las Vegas would get a hockey team, let alone one that won a Stanley Cup just six seasons in. My biggest gripe was an intrusion of outside noise above 60 mph. I get it – sound deadening equals fuel-economy killing weight.

In Utah the posted limit is 80 mph and for many drivers that was only a suggestion. We set the cruise control to 72 mph when on the freeway. A comparable SUV, such as a 2023 Ford Explorer AWD with the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and an EPA highway rating of 26 miles per gallon, would have used 69 gallons of gasoline.
