Kia Motors will introduce its first 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain in the second half of 2018. The new “EcoDynamics+” powertrain supplements acceleration with electric power from an additional 48-volt battery and extends combustion engine ‘off time’ using a new Mild-Hybrid Starter-Generator unit.

UK-based Aeristech has introduced a new 48V electric supercharger capable of continuous operation at high boost levels. Aeristech’s 48v eSupercharger has already been demonstrated by MAHLE Powertrain UK in a D-segment appraisal vehicle using its downsized turbocharged 1.2 liter, 3-cylinder gasoline engine. Toyota Motor continues to lay the foundation for the introduction of its production fuel cell hybrid vehicle in 2015; the company began work on fuel cell technology in 1992. The output power is more than 100kW, despite significant unit downsizing. kW/L—twice as high as that of its previous FCV, the Toyota FCHV-adv (earlier post).
