GM dealers delivered 189,443 total vehicles in July, a 19.4% Ford, Lincoln and Mercury retail sales increased 9% versus a year ago. Other results included: Ford Fusion sales totaled 17,610, a July record and up 66% versus a year ago, and Mercury Milan sales were up 60%. The new Honda Insight hybrid posted 2,295 units.

Toyota has had a battery recycling program since 1998 and even offers dealers a $200 bounty to ensure batteries arent just thrown away (described at end of linked document). At the moment, only 2004-2007 Priuses , and to a limited extent, the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Hybrids. What about battery safety?
