Required reading: Bill Moore's EVWorld review and Martin Zimmerman's LA Times piece about their test drives of the Toyota Plug-in Prius and the hydrogen fuel cell Highlander FCHV. Third party converters have spent time and resources tweaking their plug-in hybrids to meet ARB testing written with gasoline-only hybrids in mind.

Zipcar, the world’s largest provider of cars-on-demand by the hour or day, launched a pilot program for plug-in hybrid vehicles in its Bay Area fleet through a partnership with the city of San Francisco. Zipcar is looking for ways to increase the percentage of these types of vehicles in the fleet in 2009.
