The oldest operating ferry in Finland will on Saturday become the nation’s first all-electric passenger vessel after being fitted with Visedo power. Mobimar oversaw the removal of the boat’s diesel-powered hydraulic motor and the old control system. This also allows future motor maintenance in shifts, with no interruption to operation.

The AMP ML350 uses a lithium iron phosphate battery pack to power two rear-mounted permanent magnet AC motors (164 kW peak and 120 kW continuous). While the initial sales territory is specific for Iceland, the agreement anticipates expansion throughout the Nordic region to include Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the Faroe Islands.
