ZAP hopes to leverage a stimulus from the government for plug-in forms of transportation. In 2009, China overtook the United States as the world’s largest automobile market with sales increasing 46 percent from 2008 to 13.6 million vehicles in 2009, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
