Researchers from the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) have developed and demonstrated secondary (i.e., rechargeable) battery cells based on a fluoride shuttle. Metal fluorides may be applied as conversion materials in lithium-ion batteries. Maximilian Fichtner and Munnangi Anji Reddy.

REV, a Vancouver, Canada company that converts Ford fleet vehicles into highway capable battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles ( earlier post ), has become the first Hymotion plug-in conversion kit dealer in Canada. It is now offering the Hymotion L5 plug-in conversion system for Toyota Prius owners in BC.

SDG&E tested the performance of two 2007-model Prius hybrids and then converted them into plug-in hybrids, using a Hymotion 5 kWh lithium-ion battery conversion kit. California’s electricity capacity could recharge as many as 4 million plug-in hybrids when charged during off-peak hours when electricity use is low.

It tested the performance of two 2007 model Prius hybrids and then converted them into plug-in hybrids using a Hymotion 5kWh lithium-ion battery conversion kit. In its most recent study the prototype battery was replaced with a production model battery and the same pool of drivers was used during vehicle evaluation.

Volvo Ford-owned company exploring PHEVs "ReCharge" flex-fuel series 60-mile concept PHEV w/wheel motors. Has shown some concept fuel-cell PHEVs.
