About half of US refinery shutdowns are conversions to renewable fuel production. Similarly, NHTSA’s new fuel economy standards project to reduce gasoline consumption by more than 200 billion gallons through 2050. Other important suppliers to the US., including refineries in Canada, are being similarly converted.
