HF Sinclair selected Topsoe as a technology provider for the production of renewable fuels at three facilities: Sinclair, Wyoming; Cheyenne, Wyoming; and Artesia, New Mexico. These facilities utilize Topsoe’s HydroFlex technology for the conversion of waste and bio-feedstock into renewable diesel.

An alliance of industry, academic and government organizations has formed to commercialize technologies that will utilize concentrated solar energy to convert waste CO 2 into synthetic fuels. and demonstrations will continue both at Sandia’s facilities in New Mexico and at a power plant project site in Bakersfield, Calif.

Joule, the developer of a process for the solar conversion of CO 2 to liquid fuels, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with DNV GL, a leading provider of technical assurance and advisory services to the energy industry. This cleared the catalyst for commercial use at the company’s demonstration plant in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Red Rock Biofuels leverages a commercially proven Fischer-Tropsch technology to convert sustainably harvested biomass residues from forests and sawmills into jet fuel and diesel products. The company operates from Bedford, Massachusetts and The Hague, The Netherlands with production operations in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Once operational, the facility is expected to convert 600,000 tons of energy grasses per year into an estimated 20 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol using the Beta Renewable’s PROESA enzymatic hydrolysis process. The new USDA loan guarantee is part of a larger effort to produce advanced biofuels in every region of the country.
