Now video has emerged showing these cars driving on public roads, next to other cars, offering a better visual size comparison, and a look at the cars in motion in the sunlight. In the R2 unveiling, Rivian did tell us all the dimensions of the R2, so the comparisons there aren’t as important.

Note: For our purposes here, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) does not have gears, so is not part of this comparison. In February, SUV registrations totalled 265,500 units, up by 31% compared to February 2015, and counting for 24.4% The European new-car market double-digit growth rate is being driven by the SUV boom.
