Not all dealers add these markups, but many do and they can range from just a few hundred dollars up to $50,000 or more (which I personally saw on a Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV recently). Unfortunately, the MSRPs for the EVs were updated in our database on different dates so we cannot do an exact apples-to-apples comparison.

In Acura-speak, Type S is the performance division (like BMW has M, Hyundai has N, Mercedes-Benz has AMG and so on). A-Spec RWD $65,850 A-Spec AWD $69,850 Type S AWD $74,850 Type S AWD $75,850* (*With the Performance Wheel and Tire Package) The ZDX is built in Spring Hill, Tennessee, meaning it will qualify for federal and state tax credits.

For electric vehicles, the BBBA includes multiple proposed changes to IRC 30D, more commonly knows as the federal EV tax credit. Perhaps the mostly likely is the requirement for EVs to be assembled in the US in a union factory to qualify for an additional $4,500 tax credit. Tax Credit Becomes Refundable.

The high cost of manufacturing the Volt is exactly why the tax credits of $2500 for a vehicle with 4 kWh of battery capacity and $417 for every kWh over 4 (so that there is a $7500 credit for the Volt) were legislated. How about using a competition sailplane for comparison, instead?
