Autocar commercially launched the E3 Advanced Series Hybrid cab/chassis at Waste Expo 2011. Commercial launch is the culmination of a testing and validation program, and follows the successful implementation of a pre-production E3 fleet that is in service in the greater Miami area. As British Airways looks towards its Centenary next year, the airline, in collaboration with Cranfield University, has challenged academics from across the UK to develop a sustainable alternative fuel which could power a commercial aircraft on a long-haul flight, carrying up to 300 customers with zero net emissions.

Speaking at the 2009 World Methanol Conference in Miami, Richard J. DME is synthesized from methanol, whether produced from coal, natural gas or biomass such as harvested forestry wastes. The other, a commercial-scale plant, is to be in production in 2012. Chemrec is currently building BioDME production plants in Sweden.
