Fuel cell cars should be plug-in hybrids so that the fuel cell is used only for extended range, and the fuel cell stack and hydrogen storage can be smaller. Lithium-Ion batteries share many characteristics with NiMH. DaimlerChrysler is using them in some of its prototype PHEV Sprinter commercial vans.
