Norwegian startup Blastr plans €4B green steel plant in Finland

Blastr has entered into a Letter of Intent with Nordic energy company Fortum that provides Blastr exclusive rights to utilize the existing industrial site located in Joddböle, Inkoo in Finland, 55 km west of Helsinki. Fortum has developed the Joddböle area since the dismantling of its Inkoo coal-fired power plant there in 2017-2020.

Global geothermal industry passes 12,000 MW operational

The global geothermal industry surpassed 12,000 MW of geothermal power operational, with about 600 MW of new geothermal power coming online globally, according to a year-end update by the Geothermal Energy Association (GEA). In Nevada, NV Energy is looking to replace coal plants with 300 MW of renewable energy, including geothermal.

India does not show yet any decoupling of their emissions growth from their economic growth, unlike Brazil, where emissions fell by 6%.
