To reduce CO2 emissions, many countries signed the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate, pledging to cut their emissions by certain targets. In 2023, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed new standards to reduce GHG emissions from heavy-duty vehicles for model years 2027-2032, as part of its Clean Trucks Plan.
