Stellantis has found itself in a tricky situation since buying up the former Fiat Chrysler properties. But the event is still bizarrely placid due to the vehicle lacking an engine or traditional transmission to offer the additional feedback we normally associate with powerful automobiles.

That event was meant to show that the new company, a combination of the old Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with Europe’s Peugeot Citroën, had the plans to electrify its model line that FCA conspicuously lacked. So how many of those 12,000 owners plug in their 4xe Jeeps? The company apparently does not intend to share that data.

That said, if that’s your typical daily commute, it’s easy to see how plugging in overnight would give you all the juice you need. I’m working at a Mopar drag race event, and the Porsche is the only German imposter amongst a sea of US metal. Adding 50km in that time isn’t great. More good news today.

Chrysler alone, for instance, may have 3 different battery pack shapes in its upcoming models. Therefore, until we get quick-charge batteries -- based on new breakthroughs, Ill take a WAG and estimate that we will have real 5-minute quick-charge batteries in perhaps 10 years -- we are likely to get our juice mostly from our home chargers.
