Chevy is finally beginning sales of its long-anticipated Equinox EV, but before then, I got an invite to Detroit to test it out for myself. Moving into the cabin, the Equinox EV’s dash and steering wheel are familiar if you’ve driven other Chevy models (or the Honda Prologue or Acura ZDX).

That would be the Dodge Circuit, a car that Chrysler unveiled at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show in January and which is now prominently displayed at the New York Auto Show. They will also compete against new hybrids from Ford, Toyota ( TM ) and Honda ( HMC ), which are entering the market now.

Chevrolet Camaro EV – OK, so early reports suggest Detroit’s next EV muscle car will be a bit different – it’ll have four doors, for a start – but from 2025 it’s shaping up to use electricity rather than a V8. Honda Prologue – first electric SUV from the Japanese brand is very much within the family.

We can now say with confidence that it is worth waiting 70+ days to make the shift to the left side of the car, following a brief spin around Cobo Hall in a prototype vehicle during the SAE World Congress here in Detroit. Millions will plug-in their electric vehicles (EV), plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and fuel cell vehicles (FCV) at night when electricity is cheap, then plug-in during the day when energy is expensive and sell those extra electrons at a profit.
