WattEV has just opened the first electric truck charging depot in the US to use the new Megawatt Charge System, capable of delivering up to 1.2 megawatts of power, currently the highest-speed charger available in the US, along with solar and battery backup on-site and a unique partially grid-islanded setup.

The solar EV charging tech company launched its product in February 2023 at Intersolar North America in Long Beach, California, and now it’s ready to take pre-orders. kW of DC charging – twice as fast as many AC EV chargers – and it allows at-home, at-work, and at-store charging powered directly by existing solar panels.

Southern California’s largest heavy-duty electric truck charging depot, powered by the US’s largest electric truck microgrid, is now online and fueled by natural gas. Heavy-duty EV charging hub developer Prologis and logistics services company Performance Team constructed the charging hub in an impressive five months.

That push is particularly focused on the trucking routes between the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and the distribution centers of the Inland Empire – which Ontario lies at the heart of. This is too long a trip for most BEV trucks (except one, at least – we’ve seen the Tesla Semi do similar mileage ).
