Between my electric bikes, e-motorcycles, e-ATVs, electric tractors, and a few other things I’m probably forgetting, having a weather-sealed, solar-powered off-grid charging shed would be a big benefit. With 1,200W of theoretical power (and probably more like 900W of solid real-world Florida solar energy), that would be a decent flow rate.

It’s initially rolling out in five states – California, Florida, Michigan, New York, and Texas – with plans to expand over time. It consists of the GM Energy Powershift Charger at $1,699, and GM Energy V2H Enablement Kit at $5,600. GM has partnered with home EV charging installer Qmerit. At $7,299, the bundle doesn’t come cheap.

Dimitri, a buddy of mine from Florida who is working on his second conversion, ask what my plans were for balancing, but I had none. The cells are charged in series and viewed to the charger as one large cell. The charger has no way of equalizing the SOC (state of charge) for each individual cell. LiFePo 4 cells are 3.2v

The PHEV Kit was checked and shown in good functionally operating order; the depleted battery pac was replaced and re-invigorated and balanced with a B&B EB20 battery pack. At this hour and at the Ft Mason International Hostel (Fisherman's Wharf) in San Francisco, the "Spirit" is delightfully charged up!
