ABB launched the Terra Smart Connect Duo , the first 22 kW AC & DC fast charging station tested and proven to successfully support the Daimler smart electric drive and Renault Zoe using AC charging, as well as with CHAdeMO cars such as the publicly announced Nissan EV200, Mitsubishi Outlander, Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner.

ABB and Volvo Buses are partnering to co-develop and to commercialize electric and hybrid buses with open standards-based direct current (DC) fast charging systems. The project, named Rapid Charge Network (RCN), was presented at the Trans European Transport Network (TEN-T) event in Tallinn, Estonia, which was hosted by European Commission Vice President Siim Kallas. Estonia was the first country in the world to open a nationwide EV fast-charging network.
