Nacero has licensed Topsoe TIGAS (Topsoe Improved Gasoline Synthesis) technology for its multi-billion USD natural-gas-to-gasoline facility in Penwell, Texas to produce 100,000 barrels per day of gasoline component ready for blending into US commercial grades. The captured CO 2 will be used for enhanced oil recovery.

The plant will produce carbon-neutral fuel—enough to decarbonize more than 400,000 vehicles annually. eFuels are produced by combining green hydrogen made from renewable power and recycled carbon dioxide. The gasoline synthesis from methanol has been commercially proven in a 15000-bpd plant in Turkmenistan since 2019.

Oil demand grew by less than 1%—the slowest rate amongst fossil fuels—while gas grew by 2.2%, and coal was the only fossil fuel with above average annual consumption growth at 5.4% Fossil fuels still dominated energy consumption with 87% market share, while renewables rose fastest but are still only 2% of the global total.
