Since then, much of the dust has settled on the Capitol as it continues to implement qualifying terms for tax credits , continuously shifting what used EVs do and do not qualify. Mitsubishi already sells the MiEV, an electric variant of their popular “i” kei-car, in Japan as well as Hong Kong and the UK, and plans to roll out MiEV sales to nineteen European countries starting this year ( earlier post ). The vehicle is expected to carry a MSRP of $29,995 before taxes and incentives.

Out have gone the coffee before work each morning, the weekend nights out, and the rush to buy the hot new DVD releases; in has been a new, thrifty way of living. With few of us having the cash or credit to buy an expensive new addition, the bottom seems to have fallen out of the automotive industry which has been plunged into crisis.

In a flurry of electric vehicle activity, three back-to-back announcements this week have placed a spotlight on Oregon’s plans to be the friendliest state in the nation in which to build, sell and buy electric cars. electric car race with i MiEV in Oregon?
