Three EV pioneers, Tesla, Nissan and Ford, are receiving loans from the Department of Energy’s Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program. In Tesla’s case, they’ll receive a total of $465 million to set up their factory in Southern California for the production of their hot Model S. Ford is the big surprise for me.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Partnering with Alcoa, Duke Energy, Google.org, Johnson Controls Indiana startup plans to unveil vehicle May 2009 at EVS-24 in Norway; mass production in 2012. 1,000 pre-orders for small production runs in 2009 and 2010starting 4th quarter 2009.

Ford and whatever it is they call Chrysler this week didn’t even bother to show up. Coulomb offers a family of products and services that provide a plug-in vehicle charging infrastructure.
