Minimum EPA EV Range of 30 Miles: The current federal EV tax credit does not have a minimum EPA EV battery range, but rather has a 5 kWh minimum battery size requirement for an electric vehicle to qualify for the tax credit. Instead, the tax credit should have a minimum range requirement of 30 EPA miles.

Hyundai and Kia take second in US EV sales According to Kelley Blue Book estimates, a record 1.2 The South Korean automakers topped GM and Ford even without their EVs qualifying for the IRA tax credit (only through leasing). Hyundai and Kia placed second in the US EV market behind Tesla after a record sales year in 2023.

The plug-in achieves an EPA-estimated 22mpg. With the hybrid system of gas engine and electric motor activated, the car gets an EPA-estimated 56MPGe. If you enjoy playing books-on-tape or music CDs, you’re out of luck. A Federal Tax Credit will knock off $5,836. BMW has removed the in-dash CD player.

Like gasoline cars, the EPA range rating, which is sort of the one that everybody quotes, has two parts. There are also, incidentally, income tax credits at the federal and state levels for installation of EV charging equipment. It doesn't cover the whole thing, but you do get a chunk of it back as a tax credit.
