January 1, 2023, kicked off a fresh start of new tax credits for vehicles, both new and used. Since then, much of the dust has settled on the Capitol as it continues to implement qualifying terms for tax credits , continuously shifting what used EVs do and do not qualify. Here’s the latest list. Here’s how it works.

The list of electric vehicles qualified for the EV tax credit in calendar year 2024 has been released. Also of note: No Rivian electric truck qualifies for the full $7,500 tax credit amount in 2024, at this time. In 2025, the tax credit rules will be extended to mining, processing, and recycling of critical minerals.

Competition is going to force them to produce a comfortable, usable, extended range EV for that price, and I will just have to wait. I really would love to get a 120D coupe BMW u cant beat 0-60 of 7.5 ↓ ↑ report 7 jharlan 2:20PM (4/25/2009) You know, I still just have no use for a toy car at a real car price.

The head of Chryslers ENVI division, Lou Rhodes, told AutoblogGreen this morning that Chrysler is marketing this battery-only version of the van to commercial fleet customers who typically have shorter range requirements. The extended-range version will be focused on retail customers.

Virtually any car, truck or bus can be made or redesigned as a long-range PHEV. It is only a matter of economics motivated by incentives or taxes. The so-called Extended Range Electric Vehicle or EREV or BEVx. This concept is basically a PHEV with a smaller “range-extended liquid-fuel-powered electric generator.”
