A luxurious new electric seven-seat SUV to sit above the soon-to-be-EV Cayenne SUV has been confirmed by Porsche as part of its increasingly electrified future model mix. It will not only be larger than the Cayenne it will be more expensive as well. The new BEVs will join the existing Taycan electric family in Porsche’s line-up.

Pure electric cars registered a decrease of 29% to 16,700 vehicles, while plug-in hybrids saw almost 14,000 new clients, up by 7%. Among the top-selling models, were the Volkswagen Passat, BMW X3 (the top-selling premium car), and Volvo S60/V60 in 24 th position.

The 2016 Volvo XC90 T8 'Twin Engine' that went on sale last August was only the second plug-in hybrid SUV to be sold in the U.S., after the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid. Since then it has been joined by the BMW X5 xDrive 40e, and coming up are the Mercedes-Benz GLE 550e, the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid, and others.
